At Z Salon & Spa, we’re committed to helping you take care of yourself, and today that means we’re focusing in on taking care of your skin.
If you moisturize regularly but still feel dry, it may be because of lack of exfoliation. You are just moisturizing the dead skin on top, not allowing your lotion or oil to fully penetrate. If you struggle with breakouts but cleanse regularly, it may be due to lack of exfoliation. Pores can become clogged with dead skin cells that are not fully removed with cleanser alone.
Facial skin should be exfoliated daily with a mild, liquid exfoliate such as Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliate, which is made with plant-derived salicylic acid. This can be done 1-2 times daily after cleansing and before moisturizer. A deeper exfoliation treatment can be done 2-4 times monthly with other cleansers and masque.
The body should be exfoliated 2-4 times monthly with a body scrub, such as Aveda Body Polish or exfoliating tools such as loofah gloves. When using a tool such as gloves or body brush, always use dry after-shaves or moisturizers. This allows for more abrasiveness and better dry skin removal. Exfoliate before shaving or a wax for better/closer hair removal. Exfoliate 2-3 days after shaving or waxing to prevent ingrown hairs. To avoid irritation wait at least 2-3 days.
