Pesky insects are an accepted, albeit annoying, part of the summer months here in Kentucky. Insect bites on your arms and legs are an unsightly and uncomfortable. Here at Z Salon & Spa, we like to go au natural with our treatments and essential oils is a great place to start.
Certain oils have repelling agents and others have soothing effects which can be utilized by a few drops on the affected areas. Sprays and wipes are an effective way of repelling insects. We have put together a list of essential oils that we believe are a great way to treat and deter those pesky insects. You can find many of these oils through Aveda! Shop here.
Please keep in mind that we are not making medical claims and encourage you to speak with your doctor before experimenting with any use of essential oils mentioned in this blog.
Repel those pesky bugs!
Using harsh chemicals, such as manufactured insect repellant, could affect your skin complexion. Instead, try a few of these natural repellants. We recommend starting with one to three oils, using a process of elimination for what works and what doesn’t.
- Lemon Eucalyptus (eucalyptus citriodora)
Soothe the bites!
If the damage is already done and you are itching for relief, try a few of these for soothing comfort:
